Pilgrimage and Our Lady Undoer of Knots Novena
I’m going on an impromptu pilgrimage to Our Lady of Consolation Shrine in Carey, OH on Sept. 6. That same day, I will begin the Our Lady Undoer of Knots novena (which would mean ending the novena on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross – Sept. 14). I am also going to fast for the healing of the Church and all victims of abuse caused by members of the Church on Friday, Sept. 7 and Wednesday, Sept. 12 -- during the span of that novena.
If anyone would like to join me in bringing all of this and ourselves to Mary, please consider the following (or your own variation):
-Pilgrimage: Make a pilgrimage to a local Marian shrine/parish on Sept. 6, OR drop work for the day and come with me to Carey, OH. I’ll be leaving from the Original Pancake House parking lot at Union Center (off I-75) at 8am and returning there at approx. 4pm. We can easily carpool for the 2.5 hour drive. I’d encourage you, wherever you are in the Archdiocese, if you’re interested in coming, to check with youth/campus ministers near you and see if they want to go. Perhaps you can all just drive up together. We will attend 11am Mass at the Shrine, and pray the rosary immediately after (which will also mark the beginning of the novena). Around noon, we will head down the street to the Shrine Park for picnic lunch (pack your own food and drink…there are 2 big picnic shelters there). Then, we can all depart for whatever else we have going on that day. If you are planning to come to Carey on Sept. 6, please fill out this Google form so we can keep track of who is coming and from where, and give the Shrine a head’s up if the group will be large.
* Nb. There is road construction at the exit off I-75 that takes you to Carey. Please follow the detour signs for US-68/OH-15 one exit further north, and loop back around on southbound I-75…from which you can access US-68/OH-15.
* Matt and Rod from my office will not be able to make the pilgrimage to Carey, but want to make a “local” pilgrimage. So, they will be attending 8:30am Mass on Sept. 6 at Our Lady of Victory, followed by beginning the novena together by praying the rosary.
-Prayer: Join in the Undoer of Knots rosary novena beginning on Sept. 6 (or another novena of your own choosing). The knots novena is particular powerful and speaks into the present situation quite nicely.
-Fast: Make some sort of penitential fast for the healing of the Church and all victims of abuse caused by members of the Church on Friday, Sept. 7 and Wednesday, Sept. 12.
