HOLY FIRE: Great Lakes

The producers of the nation's largest Catholic youth event, NCYC, invite young people in grades 6-8 to a one-day experience of dynamic speakers, music, and the sacrament of the Eucharist like they have never before experienced. At Holy Fire, young people will be invited and challenged to embrace their baptismal call and embrace the relevant and powerful gospel of Jesus.

Why Attend Holy Fire Great Lakes?

Holy Fire Great Lakes is a national middle school conference produced and presented by the NFCYM (National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry) and hosted by the Diocese of Toledo, OH. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati will be joining thousands of young people, parents, and leaders who are seeking the face of Christ in the life of the Catholic Church together. Calling on the Holy Spirit we have received at our Baptism and sealed through Confirmation, we will encounter Christ in a new way and be challenged to live as missionary disciples.

How can Holy Fire support our youth ministry?

Holy Fire has been created to not just be a one time event. There are free "pre-event" and "post event" youth nights. There are small group discussion questions for the ride to the event and the ride back from the event. The event itself takes hundreds of people and lots of resources to create and put on. Let them do the difficult planning and implementation for you while you actually get to minister with and to your youth.

Who Should Attend?

All 6th to 8th grade students from parish religious education, Confirmation, youth ministry and Catholic schools, together with their teachers, catechists, youth ministers, parents, chaperones, and pastors from throughout the region are invited.

A few notes for group leaders:

The Holy Fire organizers are populating a list of potential vendors and information will be made available on the Great Lakes website. We will also pass along any information we receive

  • T-shirts – In the coming weeks, Holy Fire Great Lakes t-shirts will be available to order. There is also an option to have the backs personalized with a parish or school name.

  • Hotels – If you are making arrangements to travel to Holy Fire separately (not on one of the AoC buses) and are thinking of staying overnight on Saturday in Bowling Green, because of the big football game on Saturday, there is “no room at the inn” in Bowling Green (Sunday should be ok). The Holy Fire organizers have found accommodations about 20 minutes away at the Holiday Inn Express in Perrysburg.

  • Webinar — Once your group purchases bus tickets through the AoC eventbrite page, you will receive a link for a "Holy Fire Group Leader" webinar on Tuesday October 8th @ 4:30pm-5:30pm. This is specifically for group leaders riding the bus with the AoC to Holy Fire.
