Join us in consecrating ourselves, our vocations, and our ministries to Jesus through Mary. Our team will be praying this 33-day consecration beginning February 20, 2019 and ending on the Annunciation, March 25, 2019. We invite any and all to join us, but particularly the Youth & Campus Ministers of the Archdiocese as well as their teens, pastors, and volunteers.
Dear Fellow Youth/Campus Ministers,
Over the past couple years we have been convicted of the great work the Holy Spirit is doing through each of you in Youth and Campus Ministry, which is a great sign of hope at this time. We’ve also been convicted that if youth ministry and the conversion of our young people is going to continue to happen in our Archdiocese, then what they need most from us is our continued witness of holiness as we seek the face of Christ in the life of the Catholic Church.
As we did last year, one concrete way my Office is seeking Christ is through his mother, Mary. As such, we will begin the preparation for total consecration to Jesus through Mary on February 20 with consecration taking place on the Solemnity of the Annunciation, Monday, March 25. If you’ve never experienced the consecration, it is a unique opportunity to grow in our own holiness through daily prayers, by renouncing the world, and growing in knowledge of self, Mary and Jesus. Learn more about the consecration by reading this introduction.
I would like to invite you to pray about joining us for this 33-day journey of preparation for consecration to Jesus through Mary. I would also invite you to consider opening this invitation to your families, volunteers, and even to your youth. Anyone can work through the preparation for his/her own spiritual benefit and conversion.
On March 25, you are encouraged to attend daily Mass at your parish and make your consecration to Jesus through Mary. Attending holy Mass serves as a beautiful gesture of love to Our Lady and her Son.
Planning on Joining us?
Then let us know here. Filling out this form will allow us to do two things:
1) Get the info we need to send you periodic reflections and daily email reminders and
2) Allow us to create a Google Map so we can “see” where others are praying and be encouraged in knowing we are not alone. This will be publicly viewable here.
In terms of guiding your days of preparation, there several options:
Many are familiar with the 33 Days to Morning Glory by Michael Gaitley which you can purchase here ($12 or less from Amazon).
Our office will be following the Preparation for Total Consecration According to St. Louis de Montfort by Fr. Hugh Gillespie which you can purchase here ($8.50 or less from Amazon).
Either way we would like to suggest that everyone use the same consecration prayers according to St. Louis de Montfort and we will make sure you have those when the time comes.
Again, I pray that you will seriously consider joining us in making the preparation and in consecration on March 25. In this day and age, when it is so difficult to keep our eyes on the Lord, Mary comes to our aid and helps us to stay in front of the cross and the gaze of her Son. It is my hope that this consecration opens our hearts to deeper and deeper conversion.
