Abby Schmid was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio at St. Helen Parish. For the last two years she has been living in an intentional women’s household called Emmaus near Holy Cross in Old North Dayton serving the young adult community there. After encountering Christ in youth group as a teen and volunteering in youth ministry for almost seven years, she is excited to be diving into full time mission work as a VIA missionary at St. Bernadette’s in Amelia, Ohio. She enjoys spending time with Jesus in adoration, cooking (preferably with lots of veggies and cheese), and dramatically singing lyrics to the Greatest Showman soundtrack.
Kelsey hails from Russia, Ohio and grew up as a member of St. Remy Catholic Church also in Russia. This past May, she graduated from Xavier University with a B.A. in both History and Communication Studies. She enjoys chilling in coffee shops, exploring new places, and watching videos of golden retriever puppies. She is very excited to be part of this mission!
Andrew Reinkemeyer grew up on a farm in the rolling hills of Central Missouri, along with his five brothers. He enjoys camping, hiking, and bonfires, as well as spending time with friends, and exploring new places. Since his time as a college seminarian, Andrew has put his formation to use by staying active in youth ministry - on both a parish and diocesan level - and by developing intentional community among fellow young adults. Andrew looks forward to working alongside other passionate individuals as a Catholic missionary in the Archdiocese.

Matt Young hails from the distant bayous of New Orleans, Louisiana. He met his lovely wife and co-missionary, Emily, while attending the prestigious University of Alabama, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in English and Latin. His experience teaching middle school religion classes inspired a passion for leading young people to Christ, which would eventually bring him to VIA. He is proud to be serving the beautiful people of Sts. Peter and Paul and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Reading, Ohio. In his spare time Matt enjoys discussing the inefficacy of postmodern thought, playing obscure Japanese video games, and reminding other people that he has in fact eaten alligator.
Associate Director for Missionary Outreach
Matt and his wife Jen have been in ministry in Cincinnati since they graduated and were married in 2012. They have three adorable kids, Isabelle, Isaac, and Ria, who keep them hopping. Matt joined the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Office for Youth Evangelization and Discipleship in January 2017 with the specific goal of helping launch the VIA Missionary Initiative. Matt is an employee of the Archdiocese and is charged with the recruiting, placement, formation and mentoring of the VIA Missionaries. If you would like to be a part of helping him reach the 404,649 through VIA Missionaries in general, consider supporting the initiative here. Please note that, where VIA Missionaries do support-raising specific to their formation and personal support, funds donated here support all the missionaries in areas such as formation, housing, and special needs.
